Masterline Marine is a psychological assessment
method especially developed for the maritime industry. Shipowners and
manning companies can subscribe to and be trained in the use of Masterline
Marine to increase their accuracy and precision in recruitment.
Masterline Marine consists of forms, instruction
folders and a computer program for processing.
Masterline Marine is today used in both East and
West for selection and promotion of both shore and shipboard personnel.
Masterline Marine is culturally independent
(unbiased) and is presently available in Swedish, Danish,
Norwegian, English and Chinese.
Versions in other languages can readily be produced whenever there is a
need.
Masterline Marine Improves Safety
Through Masterline Marine, one gains deeper knowledge of an applicant’s
life style, values and other important personal characteristics.
Individual qualities such as intellectual capacity, intellectual
structure, readiness for involvement, motivation, coping potential,
attitudes, ambitions, team orientation and leadership style are evaluated.
Masterline Marine uncovers all the basic mental
steps involved from perception to action, i.e. the fundamental process
necessary for understanding human behaviour irrespective of situational
and cultural context.
Masterline Marine is based on modern
psychological know-how and is especially standardized for positions and
personnel categories within the maritime industry. When recruiting for
senior positions onboard, Masterline Marine should preferably be
supplemented with additional testing (e.g. Defense Mechanism Test, DMT) to
also cover human factor aspects.
Administering Masterline Marine
Masterline Marine is easy to administer. All materials, i.e. forms and
written instructions, are collected in a special Masterline Marine folder
which is given to the applicants. The applicants work individually at
their own pace with the self-instructive material. Normally it takes about
an hour to complete the test.
On the forms, the applicants give their personal
views on three specific topics. These topics are wide in scope and
especially designed to necessitate a personal approach and to reveal
individual characteristics and differences.
After writing down personal aspects on the three
topics, the applicants are instructed step by step to decide on, classify,
evaluate and add further information to their responses.
Processing the Masterline Marine Forms
After completion, the forms are returned for processing by the Masterline
Marine computer software for Windows. The typing and processing take less
than five minutes.
The software presents, on screen and in print, a
comprehensive and clear base for interpretation and for assessment of
applicants as well as material for fact-finding interviews.
The Masterline Marine User.
All assessment tools ultimately depend on the user and his or her interest
and aptitude. No method, irrespective of its qualities, can make up for
inadequate training. As a user of Masterline Marine your competence in
assessing will continuously increase. You also have constant access to
qualified back-up and support at Marine Profile.

adapted, is intended for up to five participants at a time and can be
designed for subscribing company’s in-house training when applicable.

Masterline Marine, as well as upon psychology and the art of interviewing
and psychological assessment.

as well as all material needed such as forms, instructions, computer
software and manuals. The subscription also includes professional support
