After retiring from sea, Mr. Sandström worked at a major international Hull and
P&I Club for some eight years. On a managerial level he handled all kinds of
international casualty-related cases, both administratively and legally.
During this time he was a key figure in the Clubs loss prevention program,
initiating Bridge Resource Management as well as representing the Club in different
maritime organizations. He was also a lecturer at insurance and safety seminars around the
world.
Later he built up and managed a major tanker owners subsidiary in Hong Kong for a
couple of years, finally becoming an independent consultant to the maritime
industry.
